Usage:

Sulfamethoxazole is used as antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs, used for urinary tract infection, respiratory tract infection, skin suppurative infection, tonsillitis;It is contraindicated for patients with sulfonamide allergy and severe liver and kidney disease.The antimicrobial spectrum was similar to SD, but the antimicrobial effect was stronger.The solubility of acetyl, the metabolite of sulfonamides in the body, is low, and it is easy to precipitate crystallization in the urethra, resulting in crystallizing urine, hematuria and obturation of urine, etc. When applied in large doses, it should be taken with sodium bicarbonate.When combined with synergist TMP, its antimicrobial efficacy was significantly enhanced, which could be increased by several times to tens of times.Clinical use for tonsillitis, acute bronchitis, lung infection, urinary tract infection.

Production methods

Sulfamethoxazole was produced by following method.

1. Using 5-methylisoxazole-3-formamide as raw material, it was decomposed into 5-methylisoxazole-3-amine in the presence of sodium hypochlorite, and then condensed with p-acetamylbenzene sulfonyl chloride to form 3-(p-acetamylbenzene sulfonyl) -5-methylisoxazole, which was hydrolyzed under alkaline conditions to obtain 3-(p-aminobenzene sulfonyl amino) -5-methylisoxazole.It is obtained by degradation, condensation and hydrolysis of 5-methylisoxazole-3-formamide.

2. By oxalic acid and ethanol esterification, with acetone, sodium methoxide condensation, cyclization, amination 3 amino -5- methyl thiazole, then with to refined benzene sulfonyl chloride condensation and hydrolysis.
