2-Ethoxybenzamide is used as antipyretic analgesic.
|Other Name||Etamide;Benzamide,2-ethoxy;2-ethoxy-benzoic acid amide;2-Aethoxy-benzoesaeure-amid;ethenzamide;|
|Appearance and properties||White powder|
|Storage conditions||Store in a normal temperature|
2-Ethoxybenzamide is used in the treatment of fever, headache, neuralgia, arthralgia, rheumatoid arthritis, toothache, dysmenorrhea and other diseases.
2-Ethoxybenzamide was produced by following method.
It is prepared by ethylation of salicylamide (C7H7NO2,[65-45-2]).Put salicylamide, solid sodium hydroxide and ethanol in the pan, heat up to 60-70℃ airtight, stir for 30min, cool to 30℃, add ethane bromide, then heat up to 80-100℃ airtight, the pressure is not more than 0.2MPa, react for 3h.Reduce to normal pressure,pH should be more than 8.5.Filter while hot, filter residue sodium bromide recovery.After most of the ethanol is evaporated from the filtrate, white crystals are precipitated out by adding distilled water.After filtration, water was washed to neutral, and then dried, o-ethoxybenzoamide was obtained.The yield is about 75%.It is also possible to use chloroethane instead of bromoethane for ethylation, but at a higher pressure.
